Good morning,

I am writing to introduce myself as your local Democratic Precinct Committee Officer for the Port Angeles 108 Precinct. As the map below shows, PA108 covers “between the bridges” (Pine St and Cedar St) along with most of A & B Streets. I’m also including a picture of me enjoying coffee by the Coho so you’ll know me when you see me!-)

Within the last week or two, I was fortunate to meet several candidates running for office as well as other fellow Democrats and local activists. After attending these events, I thought that I should make sure that people in my precinct know what’s going on. So I’m starting an email list where I hope to send out an email every week or two telling what’s going on locally that might interest you. These would include Clallam County Democrats (CCD) info, opportunities to meet candidates, very local news and events, and anything else you tell me to include.

Here’s an example of what I plan to have in my emails:

Dave Upthegrove is running for Washington State had a Meet&Greet at The Sons of Norway hall last Saturday. You can click here to find out a bit more.

Elwha Legacy Forests had a celebration last Sunday because they were able to stop a local timber sale. They have regular meetings, hikes into the woods to see proposed and logged timber cuts, and other events. Click here to find out more.

CCD hosted a round robin meet and greet for the three great Democrats running to be our next 24th LD Representative. It was so nice to get to talk to all of them. They are in alphabetic order:

All three candidates expressed their opposition to the three ballot initiatives that will be on the ballot this fall.

Want to get involved and meet fellow progressives, then come to the CCD Letter Writing Party This Thursday, April 4th 12pm-2pm Clallam Democrats office 124 W 1st Port Angeles

WSDOT will talk about roundabouts on 101 at The Port Angeles Business Association breakfast meeting at Joshuas  at 7:30AM on Tuesday morning.

The North Olympic Land Trust will have a breakfast meeting and Panel discussion at 10AM this coming Saturday at the Vern Burton Community Center. Learn More & RSVP Here

In very Local News:

A local grocery store is under construction on 8th St near Rabbit Food. They plan to have a lot of locally grown food. I’ll let you know as I learn more.

Our neighbor Dave Linger is sailing around the world – solo! This is part of the Global Solo Challenge Having started in 12th place, he has moved up to 6th place  and just crossed the equator as he heads for the finish in Spain. He has had many adventures – including a broken boom as he was sailing around Cape Horn. You can track Dave’s location in his boat Koloa Maoli here

If you have any local news you’d like me to share, please let me know.

In addition to political/progressive stuff, I am also hoping to get to know more of you and build our local community by having some social get togethers at my place (I make great wood fired pizza) and some work parties to improve our neighborhood.

We are very lucky to have a way to walk right to downtown on the 3rd St trail from Pine to Valley. Unfortunately, heavy rains and water main work can wash out the trail. A few years ago we had a work party to clean out the ditches, and cut some brambles back, and in 2-3 hours the trail was a lot better!-)

For my first work party, sometime in April or May, while the ground is still moist and diggable, I’m hoping to do it again! I’ll let you know when we get a date or let me know if you have a preferred date when you’d like to join me.

I appreciate you reading this far and hope you’d like to be added to my email list. If so, please hit reply and let me know.

Thank you very much,

Paul Kolesnikoff
