April 10 email

Hello neighbors,
I'm writing to introduce myself as your local Democratic Precinct Committee Officer for the Port Angeles 108 Precinct.  I plan to send out an email every week or so with local news and events as well as some links to things further afield. After a few emails, I will only include those of you that have asked me to continue. So, if you'd like to keep getting these, send me a note. If you'd like me to stop, do nothing and I will. If you think this is good stuff, please send it to your neighbors and tell them to sign up with me.

Here's this week's highlights of news and upcoming events (keep reading for more info):

3rd St Trail Work Party Saturday, April 27, 9AM: We are very lucky to have a way to walk right to downtown on the 3^rd St trail from Pine to Valley. Unfortunately, heavy rains and water main work have washed out the trail. A few years ago we had a work party to clean out the ditches and cut some brambles back, and in 2-3 hours the trail was a lot better.
It now needs to get some brush trimmed back, the ditches cleaned out, and hopefully get some fill for the gully down the center. I'll be baking sourdough bagels that morning to help keep your energy up. So mark your calendars and please let me know your coming and be sure to bake enough.

5th St Garden Tour - Saturday, April 13, 9AM: On the second Saturday of the month, Clallam County Master Gardeners offer a free educational tour of the 5th St Community Garden located right across the street from City Hall. If you're interested in gardening and want to see what different people are doing and what you should be doing this month, please stop by.

Democrats Lunch Asian Buffet - Tuesday, April 16 Noon: On the third
Tuesday of each month, local Democrats get together at Asian Buffet 1940 E 1st St, 98362 to enjoy some good food, and nice conversations in a casual atmosphere. This is a great way to get to know your like minded neighbors. Lunch costs about $15 and you don't need a reservation. Just come on down at noon and we're in the group area behind the cash registers.

Meet Emily Randall -  Sons of Norway, Saturday, April 20, 2:30PM Emily Randall is running for Congress in Washington’s 6th District. (Derek Kilmer is retiring) Come to meet Emily and find out more about her. You can read more about Emily and watch her launch video at www.electemilyrandall.com.
Here are the details:
*When: Saturday, April 20th*
*Time: 2:30 - 4:00 pm*
*Where: Sons of Norway Scandia Hall*
*Address: 131 W 5th St in Port Angeles*

Meet Candidates - Dem HQ 124A W 1st St., Wednesday, April 24, 6PM:
Throughout the year, we'll be bringing you opportunities to get to know the candidates running for office. This evening we will have Hilary Franz and Emily Randall, who are running to fill Derek Kilmer's seat in Congress. In addition, Representative Mike Chapman, Senator Kevin Van De Wege, and Representative Steve Tharinger will provide a review of the 2024 Legislative Session. The meeting will be run like a town hall with questions submitted ahead of time for both the candidates and the legislative review. So please send in any questions you have to the program committee at chdem24@gmail.com by April 15, and then come to the meeting to hear the response.

Dream Playground Rebuild -  May 15-19: As most of us know, the Dream Playground burned down last December and the community has really come together to rebuild. The rebuild is scheduled for May 15-19. They need tools and workers. If you'd like to help, go to

Local Sailing News: PA108 resident Dave Linger has spent the last
several months sailing solo around the world! He is now about a week away from returning to his starting point in A Coruña, Spain. Dave's finish will be live-streamed by the race organizers
(https://globalsolochallenge.com/) on Facebook, and I will be toasting Dave at the Port Angeles Yacht Club on the big screen. Of course, the exact timing of Dave's arrival will be dictated by the wind, weather, and waves. So if you'd like to join me for this, please let me know and I'll let you know when I'm heading down to the clubhouse.

Where is PA108?: As the map below shows, PA108 covers “between the
bridges” (Pine St and Cedar St) along with most of A & B Streets.

I hope you have found this helpful. Please let me know what I can do to improve this email, join me at some of these events, and please sign up to continue getting these emails.
Thank you very much,
Paul Kolesnikoff
